The Entirety of This "Absolute Loser" Album by Fruit Bats

Dear Readers,

I've never been a huge Fruit Bats fan, but I think that's about to change. I listened to them casually when I was younger and I don't think it was the right place or time for me to appreciate them. Kind of like when you meet someone who is really cool, but you don't speak to them (at length anyway) for a year or so.

This might be my first favorite (hehe, alliterative typo) album of 2016. It's incredible. Sorry Gwen.

If you're a fan of Dr. Dog or the Mountain Goats or Vetiver, this album will be right up your alley. Have a listen:

It has the makings of good roadtrip music, IMO. And only incredible albums can be quality roadtrip music. Trust me, I took a bus across America. I know.
I also listened to "When U Love Somebody" for the first time in forever, which made me incredibly sad for something that has never happened. There's some strange word for that sensation, but I don't know it off the top of my head. Like the kind of deja vu you never really want to have.
Now I want to share that haunting emotion with you. Here you go:
Anyway, you NEED to hear this. I'm probably going to overdo listening to Fruit Bats now and end up sick of them by July (as I do). But! They are playing a free show at Valley Bar next Sunday. And because it's Valley Bar, I recommend showing up wayyyyyyy early. One time I was in line there and this guy offered me a sandwich. I took the sandwich, but I did not eat it, all the while thinking, "Why did he offer me a sandwich?"
Like, who does that? Oh well.

  1. These are pretty good. I want to get something by the Mountain Goats. Do you recommend an album in particular?

    1. Earlier albums for sure. Try "The Sunset Tree." Also, thank you for reading my post! <3
