Who killed Natalie Wood?

A few days ago, the news was abuzz with, um, news that the Natalie Wood death investigation, closed some nearly 30 years ago, is being re-opened according to breaking information from the captain of the Splendor, the ship Wood was on that fateful night.

Apparently Robert Wagner, her on-off again husband of many years, is being pinpointed as the one responsible for leading Wood to her watery death that night. I'm just going to stop and say this story sincerely breaks my heart. Natalie Wood was such an awesome actress and to have her whole career reduced to THIS sort of tabloidy story makes me sick.

I will give you the deetz behind it though:  Natalie Wood was starring with Christopher Walken in the film Brainstorm. Apparently, word had it that Wood was busy hooking up with C-Walken. And the Wagner/Wood relationship was something always on the rocks. Well, they all went on a boat, to be really I guess flippant about how I'm describing it?, drinking was involved, fighting broke out. Natalie, very drunk (oh girl how this has been me too many times), wandered around the boat. Up until now, it was widely believed she simply fell, being drunk and drowned.

This is where it gets really creepy, because the actress had a long-standing life fear of water and knew she would die of drowning. People in the vicinity heard screaming "help me! help me!" and requests for more outright help....but no one did anything. Natalie Wood drowned that night, ending a career from childhood onwards, a career that would have definitely been re-energized if she had lived to see it.

So it remains a little of a mystery:  did she really fall or was she pushed? As a result of an alleged "lover's quarrel?"

me? I personally think she fell. but it is a weird, weird situation. nonetheless, Natalie Wood is a legend- she doesn't get a lot of spotlight these days, but she was pretty fantastic.

RIP, Natalie.
