Today was the first rather nice day (full-out) I've experienced in a while. that is if you don't count the near-death experiences I had in the bathroom at ungodly hours this morning. don't you love those? like "I'm gonna die! I'm gonna die! I'll do things different this time!" and then you go back to sleep and wake up and are all like YAY SIN YAY DEBAUCHERY. Speaking of, I went to church for the first time last week since Christmas and enjoyed myself. weird.
so I sat in bed on what was the first truly gorgeous glorious physically flawless day of the year and listened to twee pop while I attempted to do homework. and it felt WONDERFUL.
"Is It Wicked Not to Care?"- Belle and Sebastian
Isobel Campbell, you broke my heart when you left B&S. although your stuff since then's been good. but really- if I had known about you when I was 13 I may still be playing the cello now.
"Gonna Make You Love Me"- Ryan Adams
I can't believe, for the record, Ryan Adams is married. and like retired from music? and Infinity Blues and yeah, yeah. although my tastes have developed since I was in tenth grade, I'll likely die a resolute Ryan Adams fan. Would it be so bad if him and new wifey Mandy Moore collaborated? I never minded her all that much. NOTHING BUT PENNIES IN MY POCKET HOW MUCH FO' YO LOVE??? wait, is that even her...?
"Mario's Cafe"- Saint Etienne
There's no prop for this song except I think I've killed listening to it. I'm not sure about Saint Etienne's other stuff. they're such a glamorous band, you know? and they seem so sophisticated to me. I don't think I'll ever be able to fully appreciate them, except when I'm on meth. which I haven't touched since October of 1998. but yeah: if I had to bring ten songs with me to a desert island to die on, this song would be on that list. most relaxing thing. and "Mario's Cafe" exists so visit it if you're ever in LDN!
I also have a livejournal, but it's no where near as fun as this these days. :) have a good week readers! and propz to Al, who is acting in an Agatha Christie play right now.
(the right note to close on)
I have a love, I have a love for this world
a kind of love that will break my heart
a kind of love that reconstructs and remodels the past
that adds a dryness to the dry August grass,
that adds the sunshine to the magnifying glass
and makes me fight for something that can't last.
"Into Eternity"- Jens Lekman
I met a boy this weekend that liked Jens Lekman as much as I did. I never know how to handle that, living in an area where most people are devoid of any musical taste (sry). I kind of want to territorially piss all over Jens.
